Endless Future - Orobouros 1 by Zeroignite Endless Future - Orobouros 1 by Zeroignite
One more work in the Orobouros series of pieces, this time in cast Argentium sterling silver. The surface has been hand-finished to a mirror shine.

The serpent's eyes are cast-in-place synthetic Alexandrite gemstones. This gem exhibits a fascinating property: the color changes depending on what kind of light is shining on it. Under incadescent lighting (as was used for this photo), the eyes appear purple to maroon. However, in sunlight, the alexandrite is an aquamarine blue.

This piece is strung as a pendant, masses 16.7 grams, and is ~4cm across.

Lovely work, I still still perfer the colour of your Orobours 0 but that's just me not over fond of silver. Are you vacuum casting the finish is great?

I'm centrifugal casting. The investment is vacuumed to remove air bubbles, but it's never perfect and there's always a few bubbles. Really it's just a ton of hand finishing, then a 6-hour run through the tumbler for a final shine :)

Glad you like it :D

Incredible work, as usual. Expect a requisition from me for a display piece at some point in the (hopefully) near future!
